When a young boy, Timothy Caswell has always kept his eyes towards the sky and the stars, looking for answers to questions that most young children begin to ask: What is out there? Where do I belong? To young to understand the answers told to him by parents and teachers, he began to answer those questions by way of his imagination. It is this imagination that fueled his creativity and talents in writing, art and later on, film. Raised in Austin, Texas, he periodically wrote stories and movie scripts of space travel and of the exploration of distant lands. Even taking these fantastic stories and adding them to his own reality. To reign in his wild imagination, Timothy began to focus on bringing those fictional worlds and lives of his through the medium of art and graphic design.

Enrolling in extra curricular classes throughout his schooling and by sometimes reluctantly taking private study of the fine arts, his art began to mature and evolve and became more graphic and popular in style and marketability. Having added the achievement of a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Austin to his list of achievements, including being decorated as an Eagle Scout and various art competition awards, he again stretched out his mind, his soul and his boundless imagination and continued to create works of art both two dimensional and three dimensional.

In his continued exploration of answers, Timothy also pursued various other forms of art like dance, singing and performance art,

eventually peaking his abilities with the titles Mr. Gay Austin All-American and Mr. Gay Spirit All-American. Timothy also began to produce small competitive and stage productions as part of this diversion into the performing arts. But still, the answers were not getting any clearer. So he abandoned his own imagination and delved into the imagination of others through the medium of film.

There in the dark movie theatre, amongst friends gathered around the television and alone amongst the ever inspiring nature of the outdoors, did he return to his love of story telling. Wanting to tell his stories, he began to write again, though this time through screenplays and eventually the making of independent film. With his past experiences and education in art, performance and production, filmmaking came to Timothy rather easily. Now able to freely admit that he is a little bit of a nerd, Timothy's stories and films told of the adventures of a gay man in space and the worlds waiting out there for human kind. He furthered his stories by encouraging others to write and produce film in the genres of science fiction by way of a film festival. Thus, The OUTer Gay and Lesbian Science Fiction / Fantasy Film Festival was born.

Through this culmination of stories and imagination, told not just by him but by others like him, is where he found the answers to the questions he began with. There is a whole universe out there, wondrous as it is frightening, and he is a part of its great existence.
